IT'S A MEMORABLE RIBBON CUTTING

The introduction of book vending machines into the Head Start program is a remarkable initiative that promises to foster a love for reading among young students. These machines not only add an element of excitement and novelty to the process of selecting books, but they also serve as a reward system that promotes good behavior and work ethics in the classroom. By allowing children to choose a book they can keep, these vending machines encourage the development of personal "Home Reading Libraries," which can play a crucial role in nurturing lifelong reading habits. Expanding this initiative will not only enrich the educational experience for these young learners but also strengthen community ties by showing collective investment in the future generation's literacy and education.

BCDI Hampton Roads increasingly recognizes the value of early literacy, investing in pre-kindergarten programs and family engagement to lay a strong foundation for academic success. Early identification of reading needs allows educators to intervene before gaps widen. The earlier our children learn to read/comprehend, the better!

Your support is invaluable in making BCDI-HR's vision
of spreading the joy of reading to even more children a reality!
